Residents near the Louis Blanc intersection in Paris’s 10th arrondissement are voicing increasing concerns over ongoing drug-related activities in their neighborhood. Despite measures such as a prefectural decree issued on December 30, 2025, prohibiting gatherings of crack users at the Louis Blanc and Faubourg Saint-Denis intersection, the area continues to experience significant drug trafficking and associated disturbances.
The local police station, located just 50 meters away at 26 rue Louis Blanc, has been criticized for its perceived inaction. In response, the 10th arrondissement’s town hall has established a listening unit to collect residents’ complaints regarding safety and public tranquility. However, many community members feel these efforts are insufficient given the scale of the problem.
The nearby Square de la Chapelle has also become a hotspot for conflicts among groups, further exacerbating the sense of insecurity among locals. This issue is not new; in 2018, there were 977 police interventions and 205 drug-related arrests near Porte de la Chapelle. Despite these efforts, the situation remains largely unchanged, leading residents to feel abandoned by public authorities.
Community members are calling for more effective and immediate actions to address the persistent drug-related issues in their neighborhood, emphasizing the need for a coordinated response from both law enforcement and municipal authorities.
